Learn more about getting a nose job in Highland, IN, and who could be a good candidate for treatment.

When people think of the words “nose job” or “rhinoplasty” they often think about it from a cosmetic perspective. While this treatment can Rhinoplastybe a great way for someone to get a symmetrical and more attractive nose, there are some conditions in which this procedure is corrective rather than just cosmetic. From the office of our Highland, IN otolaryngologists, find out more about why people choose to get rhinoplasty and whether this is the procedure for you.

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure in which our Highland plastic surgeon corrects structural deformities in the nose to improve both proportion and symmetry. Here are some things that rhinoplasty can do:

  • Improve the size of the nose in proportion to your face and other features
  • Alter the size of the nostrils or the width of the bridge
  • Eliminate bumps on the bridge of the nose
  • Get rid of upturned, large or hooked noses
  • Change the appearance of wide or upturned nostrils

Of course, rhinoplasty may also be recommended by one of our Highland ENT doctors if you have a deviated septum, a condition in which the wall that separates the nasal passages is out of alignment. By correcting the misalignment of the nasal wall we can make breathing through the nose easier and more comfortable.

Getting Rhinoplasty

A rhinoplasty is performed as an outpatient procedure, meaning that you will be able to go home right after your treatment. We will discuss the type of anesthesia we will use during your procedure to determine whether local or general anesthesia is necessary. By making small incisions in the nostrils we can reshape the cartilage and bone to improve the shape of the nose.

After rhinoplasty, most patients will be required to wear a splint for about one week. There may be swelling, bruising, tenderness and discomfort for a few days after treatment. We will provide you with pain relievers and other ways to manage your symptoms while you heal.

If you want to change the appearance of your nose or correct one of these conditions above, then don’t hesitate to turn to the Center For Otolaryngology & Facial Plastic Surgery in Highland, IN. We are happy to determine if this is the right restorative and cosmetic treatment for you.
